For more than 200 years, Fraserburgh's Harbour Commissioners have managed the town's harbour from the Georgian building you can see here. They've overseen the development of the port in many stages as the fishing industry has grown and changed. The building also provides space for the local customs and excise officers

The harbour lands fish from small local crab boats, from North Sea trawlers and from the huge vessels that fish far from home. Buyers bid for many types of fish in the market with its modern refrigeration facilities. Oily, pelagic species, such as herring and mackerel, migrate great distances in search of food. Popular demersal species, such as haddock and cod, are bottom feeders in nearer waters. Lobster and other shellfish are also in great demand.

A great souvenir of Fraserburgh is fresh fish so buy some to take home -or enjoy a fish supper in one of the town's chippies.
