By now, you'll be familiar with the grid pattern of streets that formed part of the Fraser family's planned town. Here, right in the middle, are the appropriately-named Mid Street and the obviously named Cross Street. If you look down Mid Street, you'll see the former cinema which was built in 1921 in the early days of the movies.

This part of the Broch suffered from bombing raids in the Second World War when many homes were destroyed and lives lost. The targets had been Maconochies, which made rations for the troops, and the Consolidated Pneumatic Tool Company which made components for fighter planes and tanks. Both factories were on the edge of the town but a stray bomb led to destruction in the town. 53 people died in bombing raids.

Folk called Fraserburgh 'Little London' at this time.
